ISSeP has a Sustainable Development plan with clear objectives for 2019 and 2020, including the creation of internal working groups. Or how to improve our infrastructure and working conditions at ISSeP, over the long term, taking into account environmental and societal constraints, is what will be discussed in groups or implemented through participative activities.
What are our Social Responsibilities ofEnterprise or CSR?
CSR is the awareness that companies have of their Social Responsibility when carrying out their activities, and of the impact they have on stakeholders and their working environment. At ISSeP, we are the sentinels of the environment, and we wouldn’t be consistent if we didn’t transmit these values ourselves within our Institute. Many of our projects, aimed at improving the daily lives of our employees, are geared towards sustainable development and improving our corporate environment. We love spaces where it’s good to live and work. But working in old buildings is no easy task. This is why infrastructure work is regularly required. In 2018, for example, a number of buildings were re-glazed and new boilers installed, generating energy savings. The delta generated is reinvested in the installation of new energy-saving devices (solar thermal panels), which will generate further savings. A positive spiral!
In relation to community life, a participatory project initiated in 2017 and named “Espace nature” has enabled the installation of a picnic area, access to a nature trail. The project also gives every member of staff the opportunity to submit ideas for landscaping the green spaces on the Liège site and/or to volunteer to put the selected ideas into practice.
Secondly, our vehicle fleet also incorporates these values, since we have a genuine CNG station at ISSeP. This natural gas is used as fuel for seven of our vehicles. This allows us to reduce our ecological footprint by reducing the quantity of particles emitted into the air. The next step would be to equip the station with two electric terminals.
Finally, our CSR initiatives at ISSeP also include regular participation in events on subjects related to our activities, such as Printemps sans pesticides (Pesticide-Free Spring), Semaine de la mobilité (Mobility Week) and Semaine de l’Air et du Climat (Air and Climate Week).
In short, numerous projects are coming to fruition as part of an overall sustainable development plan that is constantly evolving in a positive direction.
