November 17-25 – Walloon Air Climate Energy Week

Walloon Air, Climate and Energy Week kicks off in a few days’ time, with over 40 activities organized throughout Wallonia on topics related to air, climate and energy policies. Among these activities, ISSeP offers 2 on the theme of air:

  • Two visits to mobile measuring stations: from 10am to 4pm on November 18 and 25 in Liège (The station is located between Avenue Maurice Destenay and rue du Verbois, near the square in front of the CPAS de Liège’s REINSER department (Avenue Maurice Destenay, 1 B-4000 LIEGE)).
  • A visit to the ISSeP air quality analysis laboratories at our Liège site (Rue du Chéra, 200): from November 19 to 23, by appointment. Make an appointment with Guy Gerard (g.gerard@issep.be)

ISSeP will also be present at the Walloon Air Climate Energy Summit on November 22 at the Palais des Congrès in Liège to discuss technology and air quality.

Measuring pollutants in ambient air: Air quality is assessed on the basis of common European methods and criteria. In Wallonia, the Institut Scientifique de Service Public (ISSeP) manages the measurement networks for all ambient air pollutants on behalf of the Agence wallonne de l’Air et du Climat (AwAC). Measurements are taken continuously by specific analysis equipment and transmitted in real time to websites(irceline.be andairquality.issep.be) to keep citizens informed. Particle and gas sampling is also carried out, followed by further laboratory analysis. In addition to fixed measurement cabins, mobile cabins are installed in certain locations to respond rapidly to local pollution problems.

“If Wallonia isn’t short of air, neither are the Walloons.”
