We are installing three air quality measurement stations close to traffic in downtown Charleroi. The project was commissioned by the Agence wallonne de l’air et du climat (AWAC) (Walloon Air and Climate Agency) to assess pollution at locations heavily impacted by urban traffic. This is a prerequisite for the installation of a new, permanent measuring station that complies with European requirements. All in close collaboration with the City of Charleroi.
The trailer-mounted cabins will continuously measure concentrations of nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, fine particulates PM10 and PM 2.5, and black carbon.Theoperation will last around a year. Eventually, one of these three stations will become a permanent measuring station, reporting to European institutions.
